Alten Road provides a nurturing environment to our tamariki from 3 months old to school age for the University of Auckland community. Our centre is multicultural and diverse and embraces families from around the world. As a centre, we are committed to using Te Whāriki and our practice is strongly influenced respectful care and relationships. The Assistant Centre Manager will lead and champion this philosophy. We see our children as competent and confident learners who bring with them their own mana personal power and ways of knowing and doing. We embrace this as part of our learning community.
With fantastic teacher to child ratios, a competitive salary in line with full pay parity with an additional leadership allowance, additional sick leave, a Christmas shutdown period – plus plenty of other staff benefits – the University of Auckland is the place to be.
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) permanent position.
Centre opening hours: 7.30am – 5.30pm, Monday – Friday.

He kōrero mōu | About you
To flourish in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor of Education or Diploma in Teaching Level 7 (ECE) with current Full Teacher Certification.
- A Strong understanding of programme planning, pedagogy, and curriculum, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education.
- Thorough knowledge of current ECE Regulations and a steadfast commitment to compliance.
- A positive attitude, sense of humour, and mature leadership style grounded in empathy and understanding.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
