About the role

Reporting to Manager Roading, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a proactive programme of work to make sure the district's roading infrastructure is maintained effectively to improve the safety and resilience of the roading network. As the Roading Engineer, you will:

  • Use your skills to ensure the Roading network is programmed proactively to provide value and resilience for the community. The network offers fantastic variety, with plenty of challenges and opportunities to innovate and develop solutions while still doing the basics well.
  • Manage contractors to deliver the programme, and react to events, with timely actions and robust solutions while keeping to budgets.
  • Ensure Council's systems and processes are used well to keep data up-to-date and accurate.
  • Ensure technical jargon is explained in plain English so the information is easy to understand.
  • Collaborate with neighbouring Councils and other stakeholders.

About you

As the Roading Engineer, you will know the relevant roading, engineering, NZTA and local government legislation, policies and processes. You will also demonstrate and have the following skills and experiences:

  • A diploma in civil engineering with 5 years' experience or similar
  • Broad knowledge of civil engineering, systems and design standards and best practice
  • Contractor management skills and experience
  • Keen to problem solve and manage multiple jobs from start to finish.
  • The ability and commitment to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Remuneration

The remuneration range for this role is $91,293 - $107,404 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
