LawVu’s Product & Engineering team is looking for a Principal Engineer, who takes pride in creating beautiful solutions that can move as fast as the startup that creates them. We are looking for a technical leader to take our team of highly skilled and experienced software engineers to the next level in their careers.


As a Principal Engineer at LawVu you’ll be expected to think ahead, design for change and build robust solutions. You’ll be able to bring the engineering team along on the journey, leading by example and paving the way to an efficient, scalable platform that we love to work on.

In this role you will work closely with the rest of the Product & Engineering team to take our API and developer platform to the next level and enable the rapid scale up and change tolerance that is required for this high growth phase.


What you’ll do

  • Be awesome
  • Lead the design and build of simple, scalable, beautiful solutions
  • Instill a culture of engineering excellence in everything you do and in those around you
  • Be the leader of our technical architecture and system design
  • Maintain and improve strict security requirements for a multi-tenant environment
  • Guide and mentor the engineering team
  • Work closely with the wider product and engineering leadership team to develop product and engineering roadmaps and initiatives
  • Work with product teams and customers on product discovery


What you’ll bring

  • 10+ years of experience designing, building and supporting large scale systems in production
  • Experience designing and building customer facing distributed web services and APIs (e.g. REST)
  • Hands on coding ability and a desire to be elbows deep in the minutia
  • Expert level knowledge of the Microsoft .NET stack
  • Deep understanding of different solution and system architecture paradigms and pragmatism on their application
  • Deep knowledge of security principles, encryption, key rotation algorithms, etc
  • Deep understanding of APIs, developer products and platform patterns
  • At least a working knowledge of front end technologies, both desktop and mobile
  • Comfort working in an Agile development environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral


Location

Preferred location is Tauranga, but other New Zealand locations will be considered for the right person
