Pact is currently looking for a PART TIME Community Support Worker for our youth service in the Dunedin area.

The Role

Pact is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to work alongside our rangatahi who experience challenges with their mental health. We are looking for someone who will inspire, encourage, be a role model and have excellent interpersonal skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

This role will have a strong focus on client goals and outcomes and you will assist the young people in the service in achieving maximum independence.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting youth with a history of challenging behaviours, and providing a meaningful, supportive and educational environment for rangatahi. Further assisting in gaining social, health, education, whanau and cultural reconnection.

As we operate 24/7, hours of work will include day, evening, weekend and sleepover shifts.

At present, hours of work are: 64 hours per fortnight - awake nights shifts

Monday 11pm to 7am

Tuesday 11pm to 7am

Wednesday 11pm to 7am

Thursday 11pm to 7am


Excellent communication and networking skills and the ability to build and sustain working relationships with clients, staff and external agencies is essential. Previous professional experience in the mental health field and experience of working with child and youth clients will be an advantage.

A level 4 or other relevant qualification in mental health is desirable but not essential. Otherwise, there is an expectation that you will be willing to start working towards obtaining a level 4 mental health qualification after your first year of employment.

  • A full driver's licence and computer skills are essential.
  • If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least twelve months
  • Must be available for an interview in Dunedin
