About The Role

As a Youth Counselor specialising in trauma, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive counseling services to young individuals who have experienced trauma. Your primary goal will be to support these individuals on their journey towards healing and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide trauma-informed counseling services to young individuals, focusing on addressing the effects of trauma on their mental health and well-being.
  • Respond to referrals from various sources, including individuals, families, and community agencies, ensuring timely and effective support is provided.
  • Utilize advanced communication skills to empower young individuals to make informed decisions and develop actionable plans for their recovery.
  • Collaboratively set realistic and achievable goals with clients, monitoring their progress and providing ongoing support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions in compliance with organizational standards and contractual obligations.

What You Need To Apply

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in counseling or a related field
  • Experience working with youth who have experienced trauma
  • Full and clean driver’s license
  • Proficiency in Te Reo Māori (desirable)
  • Registration with relevant professional bodies (e.g., NZAC)
  • Working knowledge of office technology
