We are currently seeking to employ a Trainee Revenue Metering Technician to our Power Services Southern team based in Hamilton.

• This is a full-time, permanent position from Monday to Friday, with some paid overtime.
• Work towards completing a Tertiary Diploma qualification (or already have one).
• Working on electrical systems, AC and DC, from 24VDC to 220,000VAC
• Working on Scada and data-communication systems, including some fibre.
• Installing, servicing and calibrating High Voltage Metering equipment.
• Conducting tests on measuring transformers (CTs and VTs), and Energy Meters.
• Building, installing and commissioning Revenue Metering panels, in High Voltage Substations.
• Carrying out very high accuracy calibrations of equipment, with full traceability to the ISO (International Standards Organisation).
• Using modern, complex, and very high accuracy systems and instruments, to confirm the accuracy of the measurement of ALL electricity generated and transmitted, in our Country.
• Interfacing and interrogating the Metering Network and test equipment via Laptops and remote data applications.

About you

We are looking for a Trainee or recently qualified Tradesperson, who is motivated to learn and able to take instruction. While it is not essential, applicants who have started or completed an electrical diploma course OR, who are close to, or finished an Electrical Apprenticeship, are all encouraged to apply. We will facilitate the transfer of apprenticeships etc, for the right candidate. The ideal candidate would also have some or all the following.
• Current EWRB Electrical license – Not essential
• Proven Strong Maths and Physics ability.
• An absolute commitment to working safely.
• To be self-motivated and proactive.
• Possess a ‘can-do’ attitude.
• Will work well as part of a team.
• A mechanical aptitude.
• An understanding that this is a unique opportunity to enter a specialised vocation, which will open many doors, and set you up for life.
