Volunteer Programme Lead - Blenheim

Fixed- Term: 12-month parental leave cover capacity.

30 hours per week.

We have an exciting opportunity in our Pathways to Settlement programme for a person experienced in working with and supporting volunteers. The position is based in Blenheim.

The purpose of the Volunteer Programme Lead is to provide coordination of the Volunteer Programme, championing it within the Pathways to Settlement team. The Volunteer Programme Lead is responsible for mentoring and supervising volunteers who will support former refugees settling in Blenheim. The Volunteer Programme Lead works closely with the regional trainer who is responsible for recruiting and training new volunteers.

The Volunteer Programme Lead is part of and works closely with the Pathways to Settlement team in Blenheim. The role contributes to development of volunteering within Red Cross, working with the wider Red Cross team involved in volunteer recruitment and support to ensure all NZRC volunteer development reflects best practice.

About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga

In this role you will:

  • Provide direct line management and leadership to Pathways to Settlement volunteers
  • Manage the quality and development of the volunteer programme including budgetary and reporting requirements
  • Contribute to the national volunteer team and Blenheim settlement team
  • Contribute to public awareness, community networking and partnership opportunities

Who are we looking for? – Mā‎ wai te mahi nei?

To be successful you will have:

  • Tertiary education in a relevant field
  • Experience as a team leader with people management
  • Proven successful experience working with volunteers
  • Knowledge and understanding of refugee settlement in NZ, or other relevant cross cultural experience
  • A commitment to the Fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement
