We process over 700 million litres of milk a year and produce a wide range of consumer and foodservice products, and dairy ingredients.

Based at either our Christchurch (Hornby) or Hokitika site and reporting to our Technical Standards & Product Release Manager we're looking for a Product Grading Coordinator to help mitigate potential risk to the business and enhance business reputation. This is a key role in our Quality team with responsibility for coordinating all product grading activities, supporting specification management processes, and for the provision of a range of standard reports for tracking quality performance measures.

More specifically this role will:

  • be responsible for the grading of final product, ensuring all product grading clearance is accurate and available to the Customer Documentation, Sales and Export Administration teams
  • identify factors that may impact on the market eligibility of product
  • ensure product grading batch disposition is amended promptly when a change of eligibility and/or status has been identified
  • ensure quality product traceability meets legal requirements
  • be able to be a key systems user supporting the development of a LIMS system and Quality ERP system upgrade
  • support specification management activities ensuring Westland Milk Products specifications (new and amended) are promptly updated as approved in a timely manner

Applicants will ideally possess:

  • a high level of attention to detail, with the ability to be competent and accurate when working with a variety of data
  • well-developed MS Office skills - Word, Excel etc
  • exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships and communicate clearly with a wide variety of people
  • a commitment to quality
  • well-developed computer literacy with the ability to pick up new systems quickly and a comfort working with a wide range of computer systems
