OneFortyOne

Contract
Location: Nelson Forests Office, Richmond, TAS, NZ
Applications close: 16 November 2026
OneFortyOne | Nelson, New Zealand | 12-month contractor role
Lead a practical technology transformation that will shape how our New Zealand forestry teams plan and manage operations.
The Opportunity
OneFortyOne is seeking a Project Manager for a 12-month role based in our Richmond office to lead the delivery of our New Zealand Forest Information System, GIS and harvest forecasting advancement project. This is an opportunity to bring together people, processes, data and technology to deliver a reliable, connected and user-friendly platform.
You’ll work closely with the business lead, technology specialists, forestry and operational teams, and software partners to take the project from detailed planning through implementation, adoption and handover.
What You’ll Do
- Own the project plan, coordinating scope, milestones, budget, resources and dependencies across the IT, forest information, GIS and harvest scheduling workstreams.
- Establish clear delivery governance, maintain risk and issue registers, manage changes, and provide concise reporting and decision papers to the steering committee.
- Lead discovery and planning workshops, translate business requirements into agreed deliverables, and coordinate internal specialists and vendors.
- Coordinate data cleansing, migration and reconciliation, alongside the technology team’s delivery of Azure and SQL Server environments and essential system integrations.
- Oversee integration testing, user acceptance testing and business sign-off, ensuring data, reporting and operational workflows are ready for deployment.
- Lead change communications, training coordination and user readiness so teams can confidently adopt the new systems and ways of working.
- Plan and manage cutover, business continuity arrangements, post-go-live support and a documented handover to business-as-usual owners.
- Track delivery outcomes and benefits, and coordinate the controlled retirement of legacy systems once agreed acceptance criteria are met.
What You’ll Bring
- You’re a delivery-focused Project Manager who can keep a complex implementation moving while bringing people with you. You can work comfortably between operational teams and technical specialists, ask the right questions, and turn competing priorities into clear decisions and achievable plans.
- A track record of delivering business systems implementations involving multiple vendors and stakeholder groups.
- Experience managing data migration, system integrations, testing, cutover and operational handover.
- Strong planning, budget management, risk management and governance reporting skills.
- Practical change management experience, including user engagement, training and adoption.
- Clear communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to build constructive relationships and resolve delivery issues.
- Enough technical understanding to challenge delivery plans and manage dependencies across applications, databases, cloud infrastructure and reporting.
- Experience in forestry, GIS or another operationally focused industry would be valuable. Familiarity with GeoMaster, ArcGIS Pro, Forest Ops, Azure or SQL Server would also be an advantage, but you don’t need to be a specialist in every platform to lead delivery effectively.
Why this role?
This is more than a software replacement. Your work will help forestry teams access trusted information, streamline everyday tasks and improve planning and operational decision-making. Based in the Nelson Tasman region, you’ll lead a defined transformation project with executive oversight, specialist vendor involvement and a clear focus on lasting business outcomes.
