Senior Systems Accountant

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Systems Accountant to join a central government organisation at an important stage of a major finance and ERP systems upgrade.

This is a temporary role, backfilling the incumbent who has been seconded up to Finance Manager. The role combines hands-on systems administration and BAU support with project delivery, reporting and continuous improvement. You'll play an important role in the implementation and upgrade of the FMIS while helping the finance team get the best from its systems, reporting and processes.

About The Role

Sitting within the Finance and Performance team and reporting to the Finance Manager, this is a varied role acting as an interface between finance, the wider organisation, IT and external system providers.

The organisation is entering the implementation stage of an upgrade to their ERP, which handles it's unique business process and finance management functionality. You'll provide finance SME expertise through this project while continuing to support existing systems and BAU requirements.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Administering and supporting finance systems, taking ownership of issues through to resolution
• Working with IT, business users and external vendors to resolve system issues
• Administering reporting tools including SSRS and Power BI
• Writing and maintaining SSRS reports and select SQL queries
• Supporting the implementation and system upgrade as a Finance SME
• Contributing to data migration planning and associated project activities
• Designing and developing financial and non-financial reporting solutions
• Creating and maintaining process documentation, work instructions and training materials
• Delivering training and support to end users
• Identifying, documenting, testing and implementing process improvements
• Leading the implementation of system enhancements and new system solutions
• Supporting the administration of other finance-related systems, including Flexipurchase
• Working collaboratively across finance and the wider organisation as project and BAU priorities evolve

About You

This role will suit an experienced systems accountant who combines a strong finance background with practical finance systems expertise. You'll be comfortable working across both BAU and project environments and able to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.

Required Experience And Expertise

• FMIS system administration experience
• Experience writing and maintaining select SQL queries
• Experience writing and maintaining SSRS reports
• Strong finance background
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience delivering user training
• Finance systems implementation and/or upgrade experience
• A willingness to pick up other tasks and contribute where required

Other Desirable Experience

• Chartered Accountant qualification
• Audit experience
• Power BI capabilities
