Head of Strategy, Performance and Operations - Advice Centres & Private Banking

We have an exciting leadership opportunity for a Head of Performance & Operations – Advice Centres & Private Banking to join ASB.

Reporting directly to the GM Advice Centres & Private Banking, this is a broad and influential leadership role responsible for turning strategy into action across Advice Centres and Private Banking. You’ll lead the teams that support frontline engagement, capability and performance, including our Coaching Leads, Retail Schools and Community Bankers, ensuring our people are well supported to deliver strong and consistent customer outcomes.

What You’ll Do

This is a varied role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence both the direction of the business and how we deliver it day to day.

You’ll Be Responsible For

• Partnering with the GM Advice Centres & Private Banking to translate strategy into action and deliver change.
• Leading strategic projects across Advice Centres and Private Banking.
• Owning Line 1 risk accountability, strengthening risk culture, controls, assurance and the remediation and closure of issues.
• Leading operating model implementation, annual planning, priorities and resource allocation.
• Shaping Quarterly Priorities to lift Home Ownership, Customer NPS and other priority outcomes.
• Setting and prioritising the network’s innovation and AI agenda.
• Lead the teams supporting frontline engagement, capability and performance, including Coaching Leads, Retail Schools and Community Bankers, creating strong alignment around our customer and business priorities.
• Connecting frontline leaders, project teams and the GM to ensure change is clear, coordinated and successfully embedded.
• Supporting Integrated Distribution and United Workforce transformation, helping align frontline capacity with customer demand.
• Establishing a clear operating rhythm that provides the GM with the insights needed to make informed decisions.
• Using MI and analytics to support effective resourcing and investment decisions.
• Driving financial and productivity performance in line with annual plans.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced leader who can comfortably move between strategic thinking and practical execution.

You’ll Bring

• Strong experience turning strategy into delivery through practical initiatives.
• A strong banking or financial services background.
• Deep understanding of Advice Centre operations.
• Proven risk management leadership, with the ability to strengthen Line 1 ownership, risk culture, controls and remediation.
• Experience leading large teams and effectively managing resources and budgets.
• Strong people leadership capability, with experience developing leaders and building high-performing teams.
• The ability to influence and build trusted relationships with senior leaders and teams across the business.
• Sound judgement and the ability to prioritise effectively when balancing competing demands.
• Project management knowledge and experience supporting complex delivery.
• A forward-thinking, adaptable approach and the confidence to lead through change.
• Clear and effective communication skills at all levels, including senior management.
• Self-awareness and an openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
