About The Role

Know the work? Ready to take more ownership?

This is an opportunity to take the next step in vineyard operations while staying close to the practical work.

As a Vineyard Foreperson, you’ll work alongside our Vineyard Team Leads and Site Managers to help coordinate daily activities, keep work plans moving, solve problems on the ground and support operators to deliver safe, quality work.

You’ll still be actively involved in vineyard operations, but with greater responsibility for seeing the bigger picture: what needs doing, how the work is tracking and where the team may need support.

You’ll coach and guide operators, support training and assessments and help maintain consistent standards across the vineyard. While you’ll provide day-to-day guidance and support, the role has no formal direct reports, allowing you to build practical leadership experience through coordination, coaching and influence.

If you’re already someone who sees what needs doing, steps forward to help and takes pride in getting the whole job done well, this could be the role for you.

This is a permanent opportunity to broaden your vineyard experience and build your leadership capability while remaining hands-on in the operation.

Key Responsibilities Include

Stay hands-on. Take more ownership. Build your leadership experience.

  • Vineyard Operations: Work across vine health, irrigation, trellis maintenance, vineyard redevelopment and harvest activities.
  • Daily Coordination: Help communicate daily and weekly work plans and keep vineyard activities moving safely and efficiently.
  • Operator Support: Coach and guide Vineyard Operators, share your knowledge and help maintain consistent standards.
  • Planning & Problem-Solving: Monitor progress, identify roadblocks and help solve practical problems as they arise.
  • Training: Support operator training and assessments and reinforce safe, consistent ways of working.
  • Organisation: Help coordinate fleet servicing and checks, chemical stock control, data entry and other operational requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Look for better ways of working and help the team deliver safe, efficient and quality results.

These responsibilities reflect the Foreperson role’s mix of practical vineyard operations, daily planning, work-plan monitoring, coaching, training and problem-solving.

What You'll Bring

We’re more interested in finding someone with strong vineyard foundations who is ready to broaden their experience and take on more responsibility than someone who ticks every box.

You’ll Bring

  • Confidence constructively guiding and supporting others
  • A practical approach to solving problems
  • Good organisation and attention to detail
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work well with different people
  • Confidence using an iPad, email and everyday workplace systems
  • Flexibility to work outside usual hours when critical vineyard activities require it
  • A good practical understanding of viticulture and vineyard operations preferred
  • Tractor and machinery operating experience preferred

You don’t need to have held a formal leadership role before. Bring strong vineyard or horticulture or rural operations knowledge, good judgement and the confidence to take more ownership, and we’ll help you continue building your capability.
