What You’ll Do

• Complete approx. 10 months of industry-leading training program, including classroom learning, simulator sessions, and hands-on driving.
• Drive modern trains through scenic Wellington routes.
• Work forward rotating shifts (including early mornings, nights, and weekends).
• Be part of a crew where your calm under pressure, attention to detail, and people-first mindset make a difference.

Who We’re Looking For

• You don’t need rail experience—we’re more interested in who you are than where you’ve been. You can be a successful driver if you:
• Are very safety-focused, responsible, and reliable.
• Keep cool under pressure and enjoy independent work.
• Can remain situationally aware on familiar routes (as things change frequently on the network)
• Have a valid NZ driver’s licence and permanent right to work in NZ.
• Can work across different shift patterns including weekends.
• Value teamwork and care about making people’s journeys better.

What To Expect From Our Recruitment Process

Because safety is our top priority, you’ll go through:

• Psychometric and psychomotor testing
• Police, ACC and background checks
• A comprehensive medical (including hearing, vision, and drug & alcohol testing)
