Our client is a large, well-established Australasian automotive parts business with an incredibly strong New Zealand presence and reputation for product range and customer service. Category management sits at the commercial heart of the business, with a capable team and strong data analytics behind every decision.

The Role

Reporting to the GM Marketing you will own the battery category end to end. Batteries are a priority growth category, and the brief is clear: grow share of wallet and scale in selected new segments. You will sit alongside six experienced Category Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own category strategy, budget and performance for a circa $35M battery portfolio
  • Drive pricing and penetration across trade and retail channels
  • Manage supplier trading terms, rebates and promotional funding to maximise margin
  • Shape the future product pipeline as battery technology evolves
  • Lead range reviews and business cases for new product additions
  • Partner with branch retailers, supply chain, finance and sales to deliver the plan
  • Get in front of customers and branches nationally to turn insight into growth

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • 5+ years’ category management experience; battery category experience strongly preferred
  • Strong commercial acumen across margin, units and price negotiation
  • Proven track record negotiating with global suppliers
  • Data-driven, with confidence turning analytics into clear commercial decisions
  • B2B and B2C experience; automotive aftermarket exposure highly regarded
  • Curious, authentic and willing to challenge the status quo
