The Opportunity

As a Principal Hydraulics Engineer, you'll be a trusted advisor to clients and a technical leader within our Network Performance team. You'll lead the hydraulic modeling for wastewater networks, helping clients respond to growth, ageing infrastructure, environmental challenges and increasing service expectations.

Working closely with network planners, asset managers and design teams, you'll develop calibrated models, network strategies, master plans and infrastructure investment programmes that support long-term community outcomes. You'll also contribute to business development, and project delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development, calibration, and the production of wastewater hydraulic models
  • Use models to develop network servicing strategies and identify the associated infrastructure to support the strategies.
  • Apply your expertise in software platforms such as InfoWorks ICM, DHI MIKE+, ArcGIS, and QGIS
  • Provide technical leadership for network planning, hydraulic assessments, and infrastructure planning projects.
  • Advise clients on growth servicing, network performance, resilience and climate adaptation.
  • Guide the assessment of network capacity, system constraints and future servicing requirements.
  • Oversee the application of hydraulic modelling to support strategic planning and investment decisions.
  • Manage project teams and contribute to winning and delivering projects.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships within your expertise.
  • Mentor and train junior team members and contribute to a culture of learning and excellence.

About You

You'll have significant experience in hydraulic modelling, network planning, infrastructure strategy.

  • A passion for the water sector and a desire to support digital delivery and innovation.
  • A degree in Civil, Environmental or Science, or a related discipline.
  • Core experience in wastewater network modelling (some stormwater experience is also desirable).
  • Strong understanding & expertise of the hydraulic modelling process and how it support the development of servicing strategies .
  • Experience delivering multiple projects and managing others to deliver your project work.
  • Strong client engagement and communication skills.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation (desired).
