You will contribute in a meaningful way to the protection of Aotearoa New Zealand from organised crime, modern slavery, extreme right-wing groups, and other activity which places New Zealand at risk.
Mo te tūranga | About the Role
We are on the hunt for multiple FCI Analysts to join our Transaction Monitoring team based in our ASB North Wharf office in Auckland. This pivotal role supports the team in complying with Anti Money Laundering (AML) / Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF) legislation and ASB regulatory requirements.
As An FCI Analyst, You Will
- Assess, investigate, and remediate complex alerts, exceptions, cases, and referrals, ensuring compliance with sanctions obligations and AML/CFT legislative requirements within agreed Service Level Agreement (SLA) timeframes.
- Report suspicious activity to the NZ Police Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and complete relevant customer due diligence as required.
- Analyse and interrogate data from ASB and CBA systems, customers, enforcement agencies, and other sources to detect and manage financial crime risks.
- Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to colleagues, and contribute to wider bank projects that impact Financial Crime Intelligence (FCI).
- Support a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing and adapting processes to accommodate business and volume changes, ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant operations.
- Develop and maintain a strong risk focus, supporting the identification, escalation, and remediation of process, operational, financial, and reputational risks.
- Manage customer expectations regarding resolution and timeframes, recognising the differing needs of institutional, corporate, commercial, business, and retail clients.
- Build a strong knowledge of relevant regulations and practices in New Zealand and the countries where ASB clients transact.

Along with your extensive banking or financial services experience, the following skills and experience are beneficial:
- A naturally inquisitive and investigative mind, strong attention to detail and decision-making skills.
- Experience working with AML/CFT legislation and policies and managing operational, compliance, financial and reputational risk.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, feel comfortable questioning things which don't seem quite right, and are able to articulate risk as it relates to financial crime.
- Committed to delivering unbeatable customer outcomes, be able to build credibility with your team and senior stakeholders and be pro-active and confident in your ability to manage your day.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people and demonstrate a focus on continuous process improvement.
