This exciting opportunity as a Motor Neurone Disease (MND) specialist nurse within NHS Highland is on offer, we welcome application from positive and motivated individuals. The post will involve overseeing and supporting people living with MND, linking with the neurology consultants, the MND network and wider clinical teams including third sector partners.
The Band 7 MND nurse is an advanced clinical specialist who manages complex care, coordinates multidisciplinary clinics, and leads service development for MND patients. The post holder will work autonomously to help shape MND services, while joining the wider MND community and working alongside the MND Association through the MND National Research Network.
The post holder’s base can be flexible, as technology will be used to connect with patients and other professionals. It is essential to be a car owner, as there will be travel across the districts and you will be required to participate in MDT clinics, meetings and home visits. Experience of neurological conditions and palliate care is essential for this post. We do offer a variety of training and development opportunities.
Role and Responsibilities
Care Coordination
Acts as the main point of contact for patients, families and local health teams to deliver person-centred care.
Clinical Autonomy
Assesses patients, creates specialised care plans, and makes critical judgements regarding symptom management and palliative care.
Leadership
Mentors junior staff, acts as the link for MND across NHSH and drives service improvements.
