Senior Commercial Insurance Adviser

We're looking for a Senior Commercial Insurance Adviser to join our growing team and help us support our Members with trusted advice, tailored insurance solutions, and strong, lasting relationships.

In this key role, you'll provide timely, professional guidance to our Members throughout the full lifecycle of their Commercial Insurance policies, ensuring they have the right cover to protect their businesses and assets. This is a permanent position and is based in Auckland. A new MAS fleet vehicle is also part of the package for this exciting position.

What Your Day Might Look Like

No two days are quite the same, but here's a snapshot of what you'll be doing:

• Providing end-to-end advice and service across the lifecycle of MAS Commercial Insurance policies, including new business, renewals and ongoing servicing.
• Contributing to individual and team outcomes for product suitability and sustainable growth.
• Reviewing Members' existing cover, identifying changes in risk or business needs, and recommending strategies to ensure they remain suitably protected.
• Assessing and accepting policies within your authority, and escalating risks when needed
• Preparing and planning renewal strategies to meet Members' changing needs
• Working closely with Members to provide ongoing support and updates to their insurance cover
• Working closely with Underwriting, Claims, the Member Support Centre, Business Advisory Services and other MAS Advisers to deliver joined-up Member outcomes.
• Managing referrals and internal processes to keep everything running smoothly

What We're Looking For

We're after someone who brings both expertise and a genuine passion for helping people. Here's what will set you up for success in this role:

• A Member-focused approach, with strong relationship-building skills and solid knowledge of Commercial Insurance products and local markets
• Proven experience in a commercial fire and general insurance sales or service role
• Ideally 3 - 5 years' experience in Commercial Insurance
• Strong capability in risk perception and assessment, underwriting processes and policy interpretation
• A proven ability to build trusted relationships with Members and work effectively with internal specialists and external providers.
• Proven ability to manage a large portfolio on SME products, balancing competing priorities while delivering timely, high quality outcomes
• Clear and comfortable communication skills, including the ability to explain complex insurance matters and present recommendations
• A proactive, organised and resilient approach, with a strong commitment to continuous learning, maintaining professional standards
• You'll need to either hold (or be willing to obtain) a Level 5 version 2 qualification, specialising in fire and general insurance
