We are looking for an experienced risk and compliance leader to join us as Senior Manager, Financial Crime Compliance.

You’ll provide trusted subject matter expertise, support significant change initiatives and help strengthen the way financial crime risks and controls are understood and managed across ASB.

Mō te tūranga | About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead ASB's Transaction Monitoring Coverage Strategy Assessment (TM CSA) programme. This role is responsible for driving the ongoing assessment of ASB's transaction monitoring coverage across key financial crime risk typologies, ensuring transaction monitoring controls, rules, and capabilities remain aligned to evolving threats, regulatory expectations, and industry best practice

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include

  • Lead the end-to-end TM CSA programme, including planning, facilitation, review and socialisation of assessments across multiple financial crime typologies
  • Partner with Line 1 and Line 2 stakeholders to assess transaction monitoring coverage against relevant financial crime threats, red flags and risk indicators.
  • Assessing key controls and understanding the financial crime compliance impacts of complex business and regulatory change.
  • Identify monitoring rule enhancements, control improvements, gaps and emerging risks, ensuring appropriate escalation and governance pathways are followed.
  • Prepare high-quality papers, insights and recommendations for governance forums.
  • Drive engagement with business and risk teams to strengthen ownership of financial crime risks and support the implementation of agreed actions.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the TM CSA methodology, embedding lessons learned and alignment with broader transaction monitoring transformation initiatives
  • Supporting the delivery of key initiatives within the team’s pipeline.
  • Coaching and developing team members to strengthen capability and support positive performance.
  • Helping foster a strong culture of compliance across ASB.
  • Supporting the mitigation of risks associated with ASB’s products, channels and services being used for money laundering or terrorist financing purposes.

You Will Ideally Bring

  • Strong experience within compliance, risk management or audit.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial crime risks and relevant financial services legislation and regulation.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical information to non-subject matter experts.
  • Strong judgement and the ability to provide pragmatic advice that appropriately balances business needs and regulatory obligations.
  • A track record of leading from the front and demonstrating positivity, integrity and empathy with your team and wider stakeholders.
  • Experience assessing risk and control environments, including the design and operational effectiveness of key controls.
  • The confidence to provide constructive challenge and support stakeholders through complex issues, incidents and change.
  • A genuine commitment to developing people, building capability and creating an environment where others can succeed.
