He Angitūtanga / The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable

Fixed Term Cleaning Assistant to join our ESS team at NZDF Waiouru Military Camp. This role is covering parental leave and is expected to run for approximately

8 months, commencing as soon as possible and concluding on 11 June 2027.

As a Cleaning Assistant, you will help maintain accommodation and facility areas to a high standard, ensuring clean, safe and welcoming environments for NZDF personnel and guests. This position operates across a Monday to Sunday roster, with further roster details provided to successful candidates.

Ko o Kawenga / Your Responsibilities

• Clean accommodation rooms, bathrooms and shared facilities to a high standard
• Vacuum, mop, dust, disinfect surfaces and complete basic stain removal
• Make beds and prepare clean, comfortable rooms for guests
• Remove waste and replenish bathroom and cleaning supplies
• Use cleaning equipment, materials and chemicals safely and correctly
• Follow health and safety procedures and assist with urgent cleans and spills

He Kōrero Mōu / About You

• Previous cleaning experience would be an advantage
• High standards of cleanliness and personal presentation
• A reliable, hardworking and flexible approach to work
• Good communication skills and a friendly, positive attitude
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Physical fitness and a strong commitment to health and safety
• A valid New Zealand driver licence would be preferred but is not essential
