About the Company

H W Richardson Group is a family-owned Southland business with roots in transport and building. It operates across fuels, construction materials, transport, contracting and property in New Zealand and Australia. Its Construction Materials division brings together Allied Concrete, Christchurch Ready Mix and New Zealand Independent Cement, supplying concrete, aggregates and cement across New Zealand.

The Role

You will report to the General Manager, Construction Materials, with a dotted line to the Group CFO. In effect you will be the divisional CFO, owning the majority of finance. The division is entering a period of exciting change, and you will lead finance through a Group transformation programme and a push to simplify how the business runs.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner the GM and Regional GMs on strategy, growth and key business drivers
• Lead a team of five, with oversight of the Christchurch Ready Mix finance team
• Business Partner with Plant Managers, supporting them to influence financial performance
• Own budgeting, forecasting and monthly performance reviews against plan
• Develop business cases and manage capex projects
• Drive the pricing and margin framework across the division
• Lead the division’s part in the Group finance transformation and simplification agenda
• Oversee management, statutory and tax reporting, audit and internal controls

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Tertiary qualified in accounting or commerce; CA ANZ or equivalent, an advantage
• 5+ years experience in a senior finance role
• Proven leader and developer of finance teams
• Strong in planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management
• A business partner who translates finance into clear, practical terms for non-financial leaders
• Track record of process improvement across finance and administration
• Multi-site, asset-intensive or operationally complex experience an advantage
• Exposure to finance transformation and system changes highly regarded
