This is one of New Zealand’s leading construction materials businesses. It is highly profitable, with a national footprint of long-life assets.

The business has just completed a full strategy refresh. It now needs a senior finance and commercial leader to help deliver it.

About The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will sit on the senior leadership team as a genuine business partner. You will lead a team 18 (4 direct reports) responsible for all financial control and commercial business partnering. You will shape strategy, growth and capital allocation, and own the full finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Shape and execute strategy across organic growth, pricing, market positioning, M&A and partnerships
• Lead business cases, investment proposals and Board-level submissions for major capital projects
• Own pricing strategy and commercial governance to optimise margin, volume and customer outcomes
• Manage commercial relationships with joint venture partners
• Lead long-term planning, budgeting and forecasting, and build an insight-led performance rhythm
• Full accountability for monthly reporting, working capital, internal controls and risk

Key Skills & Experience Required

• Several years in senior commercial finance, strategy or corporate finance roles
• Open on background: commercial finance leaders with material P&L exposure in an asset-intensive business, or those from corporate finance, M&A, transaction services or investment banking who want to apply those skills inside an operating business
• Strong experience in capital allocation, investment appraisal, pricing and M&A assessment – highly desirable
• The credibility to influence executive level stakeholders
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
• A commercially minded operator who challenges constructively, backs their view with evidence and turns complex data into clear decisions
