Mechanical Fitter

We’re looking for an experienced

Mechanical Fitter based in Wellington to support the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of high voltage substation and transmission equipment. This is a hands-on role offering variety, technical challenges, and opportunities to develop your career within the electricity industry.

About The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be responsible for:

Installing, assembling and maintaining mechanical plant and equipment

Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on substation assets

Reading technical drawings and working to specifications

Completing inspections, maintenance and upgrade work

Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard

Participating in project work and occasional standby duties

About You

Mechanical Fitter trade qualification or equivalent experience

At least 2 years' post-apprenticeship mechanical fitting experience

Strong welding, fabrication and maintenance skills

Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring tools

A commitment to health, safety and quality outcomes

A full New Zealand driver's licence

Physical fitness and a willingness to work at heights when required
