He Angitūtanga / The Opportunity

We are looking for multiple enthusiastic

Chefs on a Permanent Full-Time basis to join our team in Waiouru, NZ Defence Site. guaranteed 40 hours a week.

Waiouru is located within the Ruapehu district, 130 km north of Palmerston North and 112km from Taupo. With some of the best fly fishing, hunting, great walks, skiing and mountain bike trails in the country on your doorstep it's an outdoor enthusiast's dream. The tight knit community is proactive and offer plenty of events you can chose to be a part of.

This position is all go. On one day you will need to be able to produce meals in large volume whilst on another serving a la carte menu, another a five-star dinner or regimental dinner and always to strict timelines. You will need to be flexible in the areas you work and on occasion take the responsibility for running the kitchen.

Ko o Kawenga / Your Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present consistently high-quality meals
• Produce high-volume meals and à la carte dishes within strict timelines
• Assist with ordering, stock control and menu development
• Manage allergens and nutritional requirements to protect customer wellbeing
• Maintain high food safety, hygiene and quality-control standards
• Support the wider kitchen team and take responsibility for kitchen operations when required

He Kōrero Mōu / About You

• Previous experience working as a Chef in a busy kitchen environment
• A relevant cookery qualification is preferred
• Strong bulk-cooking, food preparation and presentation skills
• A passion for delivering great food and excellent customer service
• A hardworking, reliable and flexible approach with a positive attitude
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure
