Regional Transportation Manager

At T&G Fresh, our transport teams keep fresh produce moving every day, connecting growers, customers and communities across New Zealand.

We're looking for a Regional Transport Manager to lead our Northern Region, covering Auckland, Pukekohe, Hamilton and Tauranga.

This is a role for someone who knows transport from the ground up. Someone who can look at the bigger picture, understand the numbers and lead through change, but isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get into the operation when that's what the team needs.

You'll work alongside experienced Transport Managers across the region, helping them and their teams perform at their best while bringing greater consistency, efficiency and collaboration across the network.

What you'll be doing

You'll have responsibility for the safety, people, operational and financial performance of the region.

That means you'll:

• Lead and develop Transport Managers and their teams, creating a culture where people are trusted, supported and held accountable.
• Spend time in the operation and at our sites, understanding what's really happening rather than managing from behind a desk.
• Drive improvements in productivity, utilisation, service and cost across the region.
• Use data and commercial insight to understand cost drivers and make good decisions.
• Support our teams through change, bringing people with you while keeping things moving.
• Build strong relationships with customers, site leaders and key stakeholders.
• Make sure we're meeting our health and safety, NZTA, driver hours and transport compliance obligations.
• Manage regional budgets, labour and assets.
• Step in and help solve problems when things don't go to plan.

About you

You might already be a Regional Transport Manager. Or you might be a strong Transport Manager or Operations Manager who's ready to take the next step.

What's important is that you know transport, know how to lead people and are comfortable getting stuck into the detail when needed.

You'll bring:

• Experience leading teams within transport, logistics or a similar operational environment.
• Strong people leadership skills, with the ability to coach, develop and empower others rather than simply manage them.
• Good commercial and financial understanding, including knowing what drives transport costs and how to improve performance.
• A practical, hands-on approach. You're comfortable getting out into the operation and working alongside your people when needed.
• The confidence to make decisions, deal with ambiguity and keep things moving in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience improving processes, performance or ways of working.
• The ability to have difficult conversations, make the call when needed and follow things through.
• A down-to-earth style. You don't need to have all the answers, but you do need to be prepared to get involved, ask questions and work things out.
• Transport industry experience is essential.

We're based in Auckland, with regular travel across our Northern Region.
