The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join a high-performing finance team and take ownership of key financial accounting and reporting functions.

You will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial information, supporting statutory and management reporting requirements, maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring compliance with taxation obligations.

You will provide technical accounting expertise, contribute to strategic and operational initiatives, and act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across the organisation. The role also offers the opportunity to lead continuous improvement initiatives, helping to enhance processes, systems and reporting capability.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Preparing monthly management, board and statutory reporting
  • Managing financial accounting activities, including reconciliations and fixed assets
  • Ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and maintenance of internal controls
  • Providing technical accounting advice and implementing accounting standard changes
  • Monitoring and meeting taxation obligations including GST, FBT and PAYE requirements
  • Identifying risks, issues and trends and providing proactive recommendations
  • Supporting finance-related projects and organisational initiatives
  • Coaching and mentoring team members while providing financial leadership across the business
  • Driving process improvements and enhancing accounting policies and procedures

Role Requirements

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Bring

  • CA qualification or equivalent professional accounting membership
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
  • Strong financial accounting experience within a large and complex organisation
  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand financial reporting standards
  • Experience preparing statutory and management reporting
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of taxation obligations including GST, FBT and PAYE
  • Advanced Excel capabilities and experience working with ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management abilities
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Leadership capability with experience coaching and developing others
  • A continuous improvement mindset and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
