We are looking for a Multi-Site Branch Manager who understands the automotive industry, knows how to bring out the best in people and can turn business objectives into well-run daily operations.

The opportunity

Based in Palmerston North, you will oversee our Palmerston North, Lower Hutt, Masterton and Whanganui sites, with travel between locations required. Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, you will lead teams, manage resources and drive operational and financial performance while maintaining high standards of safety, inspection quality and customer service.

This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 guaranteed hours per week, paying NZD $110,000-$120,000 gross per annum, depending on your skills and experience. Our preferred start date is as soon as practicable, by agreement.

What you will be doing

You will balance people leadership with the commercial and technical requirements of running multiple inspection sites. Your responsibilities will include:

Managing daily operations, workflows, staffing and rosters to meet customer demand and business targets.
Coaching and developing staff, managing performance and supporting recruitment, induction and ongoing training.
Ensuring sites meet NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi requirements, relevant legislation and VINZ policies and standards.
Monitoring audit findings and coordinating corrective actions with the Regional Operations Manager and Technical team.
Managing budgets, expenditure, invoicing and credit control, and reporting on operational and financial performance.
Building strong customer relationships, managing key accounts and identifying opportunities to grow the business.
Leading health, safety and wellbeing practices, including risk management, incident reporting and accurate records.
Identifying and implementing improvements to productivity, service delivery and customer experience.

What you will bring

To be considered, you must have:

A relevant trade or allied trade qualification, such as diesel mechanics, automotive technology or another relevant automotive trade.
At least nine years of automotive trade experience.
Proven management or supervisory experience.
Current NZTA Certificate of Fitness B (CoF B) inspecting authority, or meet the requirements to obtain this authority. You can check your suitability via https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/resources/vi/viule
Knowledge of vehicle inspection requirements and relevant legislation.
Sound knowledge of risk management and its practical application.
Strong people leadership skills, including coaching and performance management.
Commercial understanding, sound organisational skills and the ability to manage competing operational priorities.
Strong communication and relationship management skills, supported by confident IT, digital and analytical capabilities.

Experience leading vehicle inspectors or similar teams across multiple sites would be advantageous. A Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Business (First Line Management), or another relevant tertiary qualification, would also be an advantage.
