About The Baker's Assistant Role

Assist Bakers, Pastry Chefs. Sandwich Creators and other Back of House staff with food preparation, food handling, stock and ensure the kitchen area is clean and tidy.

Responsibilities

• Assisting bakers with daily bread and bakery production
• Assist Pastry Chef's with daily production
• Measuring and weighing ingredients accurately
• Preparing ingredients and equipment for production
• Mixing, shaping, portioning and preparing dough under direction
• Loading and unloading ovens
• Monitoring baking times and temperatures
• Preparing trays, tins and baking equipment
• Preparing sandwiches, fillings or other bakery items where required
• Washing and sanitising equipment, benches and utensils
• Following food safety and hygiene procedures in line with Food Control Plan
• Following recipes, production sheets and quality standards
• Rotating and checking stock and ingredients
• Helping with deliveries, storage and general stock handling
• Assisting the wider Fergbaker team with general production tasks as required

Requirements

• Must be available to work a range of different shifts (morning, afternoon & evening) on a rotating roster
• Work full time hours, 40-45 hours per week
• Thrive in a physical and fast paced environment
• Friendly and a can do attitude
• Be physically fit as this role involves being on your feet all day and lifting and handling food items in large quantities
• Reliable transport as the position is based in Arrowtown
