This newly created role is an opportunity to shape and deliver the people priorities supporting Mercury’s corporate functions. Partnering closely with Executives and senior leaders, you’ll translate our strategy and long-term goals into practical workforce plans and actions that strengthen capability, culture and business performance.
You’ll join an experienced and collaborative People Experience (PX) team focused on getting the fundamentals right, strengthening our operating model and continuing to lift the quality of service we provide to the business.
This role has the flexibility to be based in Auckland or Tauranga. As a business, we are constantly evolving and adapting and this may mean the business units you partner with may change, providing more experience and exposure across Mercury.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
As the primary strategic PX partner for your portfolio, you’ll build a strong understanding of its commercial drivers, priorities and risks. You’ll provide trusted advice and constructive challenge, helping leaders connect people decisions with business strategy, performance, affordability and risk.
A key area of focus will be helping Mercury prepare for the future of work. You’ll bring together people, technology and ways of working to help leaders understand future workforce needs, build capability and support the effective adoption of technology and AI.
You’ll balance strategic thinking with practical execution. This includes coordinating support across PX Advisory and specialist teams, while maintaining clear ownership of the strategic relationship and wider people plan.
Tāu ka kawe mai | What you’ll bring:
- Significant generalist HR experience in a senior Business Partner, HR Manager or equivalent role
- Proven experience partnering with Executives and senior leadership teams
- Experience within a large, complex commercial organisation, ideally with more than 1,000 employees
- Strong commercial and strategic thinking, with the ability to turn strategy into practical action
- Demonstrated capability across workforce planning, organisation design, leadership, culture, talent and complex change
- Strong influencing skills and the confidence to provide constructive challenge
- Experience using data and insights to identify issues, influence decisions and track outcomes
