Mō Te Tūranga – About The Role

We’re looking for a Shepherd General who is ready to learn, get stuck in and build a strong foundation in farming.

This is a hands-on development role in a well-structured and successful farming business. You’ll work alongside experienced farming leaders, build core skills in stock work, grazing, animal health, fencing, water systems and farm maintenance, and be involved in seasonal programmes across a large-scale grazing operation.

Whether you’re starting out or already have some experience, this role will help you grow your skills, confidence and farming knowledge over time.

You’ll be involved in practical, day-to-day farming work, including:

• Livestock handling and stock work.
• Fencing, water systems and farm maintenance.
• Feed management and grazing activities.
• Seasonal farming programmes including mating and animal health activities.
• Health and safety and environmental management.
• General farm operations across the wider business.

This role is part of our development pathway and is built to grow good people into capable farmers.

We’re looking for someone who is keen to learn, reliable, practical and ready to get involved.

You’ll Bring

• A genuine interest in farming and livestock.
• Reliability, motivation and a strong work ethic.
• A commitment to health and safety.
• A NZ driver’s
• Previous farming experience is useful but not essential.
• An understanding of, or willingness to learn, Ngāi Tahu values, tikanga and te reo Māori.
