Product Owner - AI Solutions

You'll work with talented data scientists, engineers and business leaders to turn ideas into reality, influence strategic priorities, and deliver solutions that help New Zealanders get one step ahead.

Te tūranga | The role

As a Product Owner - AI Solutions, you'll be responsible for defining and delivering outcomes that maximise customer value and business impact. You'll build and manage a clear roadmap, prioritise opportunities, and lead delivery through cross-functional squads to ensure successful outcomes.

Working closely with stakeholders across ASB, you'll balance customer needs, business priorities, technology requirements and risk considerations to drive effective decision-making and delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Defining and maintaining a 6-12 month roadmap for AI products, services and experiences.
• Leading delivery against agreed roadmaps and business outcomes.
• Prioritising work and managing a healthy backlog that supports predictable, value-driven delivery.
• Driving discovery activities, hypothesis development and validation to inform product direction and investment decisions.
• Championing customer needs and ensuring solutions create measurable value for customers and ASB.
• Building trusted relationships with business and technology stakeholders to align priorities and manage delivery expectations.
• Identifying and managing delivery risks, compliance requirements and operational controls.
• Contributing to the Product Owner community through mentoring, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

You'll be a collaborative and commercially minded Product Owner who thrives on turning ideas into outcomes. You'll be equally comfortable engaging with senior business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, bringing clarity to complex problems and helping shape AI solutions that deliver real customer and business value.

You'll Bring

• Experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or similar product leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience managing and prioritising product backlogs, balancing customer, business, risk and technology priorities.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to translate business needs into clear product requirements and user stories.
• Experience working in agile delivery environments alongside engineers, data practitioners and cross-functional teams.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, including making effective trade-off decisions in complex environments.
• An understanding of data, analytics, AI or digital products and services.
• Experience managing delivery risks, compliance requirements and operational performance.
• A customer-centric mindset with a passion for delivering measurable outcomes.
• A commitment to continuous learning and helping grow capability in others.
• Experience with platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Microsoft Foundry or similar AI and data platforms would be highly advantageous.
