Mō te Tūranga | About the role

ASB is establishing a Pega Centre of Excellence (CoE) to provide enterprise-wide governance, standards, reusable practices and expert support across our Pega ecosystem. We are looking for a Pega System Architect to help execute the CoE roadmap while building practical experience across Pega delivery, platform standards and continuous improvement.

Working with senior Pega architects, engineers, Product Owners and delivery teams, you will configure and enhance Pega applications, contribute to reusable assets and documentation, and support squads in applying CoE guardrails. This role suits a Pega engineer who has a sound foundation in the platform, enjoys learning and is ready to grow through hands-on delivery and coaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, test and maintain Pega application features under the guidance of senior System Architects and Lead System Architects.
  • Translate well-defined business requirements and user stories into secure, supportable Pega solutions.
  • Build and update case types, workflows, user interfaces, data objects, decision rules and integrations in line with agreed designs.
  • Apply Pega guardrails, development standards, naming conventions and reusable patterns promoted by the CoE.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of reusable components, templates, guidance and technical documentation.
  • Participate in design discussions, peer reviews, testing, defect resolution and deployment activities.
  • Use Pega tools and delivery pipelines to manage application changes, investigate issues and support reliable releases.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Architects, testers, engineers and operational teams to deliver customer-focused outcomes.
  • Contribute to CoE initiatives such as standards adoption, platform health, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Keep your Pega knowledge current and actively seek feedback, coaching and opportunities to grow your technical capability.

Ō Pūkenga | About you

You are a Pega engineer with a solid understanding of the platform and some practical experience delivering or supporting Pega applications. You are comfortable working within established designs and standards, ask thoughtful questions and take ownership of delivering high-quality work.

You bring curiosity, care and a collaborative mindset. You communicate clearly, respond constructively to feedback and enjoy working with others to solve problems. You are motivated to deepen your Pega capability while helping the CoE embed standards, reusable practices and continuous improvement across day-to-day delivery.

Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful?

  • Pega Certified System Architect (PCSA) certification is required.
  • Practical experience configuring or supporting Pega applications in a project, internship or production environment.
  • Foundational understanding of Pega case management, workflows, user interfaces, data models, decision rules and application security.
  • Ability to interpret user stories and solution designs and implement well-scoped changes with guidance.
  • Awareness of Pega guardrails, reusable design, troubleshooting and application performance principles.
  • Experience with unit testing, defect resolution, peer review and maintaining clear technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of APIs and integrations, source control, CI/CD or Pega deployment practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to quality and customer outcomes.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an agile, cross-functional team.
