Mō te tūnga | About the role

We're looking for experienced Support Workers who are confident supporting people with complex behavioural, emotional, and medical needs.

In this role, you'll use your skills in de-escalation, risk management, and relationship-based support to help people navigate challenging situations, build independence, and achieve positive outcomes. You'll play a key role in creating safe, supportive environments where people can thrive.

Alongside behavioural support, you'll assist with daily living activities tailored to individual needs, including community participation, medication support, household tasks, personal cares, and achieving personal goals.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is resilient, calm under pressure, and understands that behaviour is communication.

Availability to work a range of day, evening, overnight, and weekend shifts is required.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Experience in disability support, mental health, youth work, corrections, community services, or emergency services will be highly regarded.

  • Experience supporting people with behaviours of concern or complex needs
  • Confidence using de-escalation techniques and responding to challenging situations
  • A positive, person-centred approach and strong relationship-building skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Confidence using computers and tablets
  • Physical fitness and resilience for an active support role
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and wakeovers
  • A Full New Zealand Driver Licence
