Programmed is a leading provider of open space and full facility maintenance services. We are currently looking for an Assistant Gardener to join our Hort team.
In this role, you'll learn on the job, develop new skills and put them into practice as you work alongside our experienced Hort team.
You'll help maintain a wide range of parks, streets and gardens across Auckland. This will include general garden maintenance such as annual and perennial beds, mass plantings and revegetation areas, along with pest, weed and insect control, vegetation control, pruning, hedge trimming, line trimming and mulching.
With the right attitude, you'll gain valuable experience and training, giving you the opportunity to progress into a qualified role and build your career in horticulture.
About You
- Passionate about green spaces and enjoy working outdoors
- Previous experience in horticulture is an advantage but not essential
- Take pride in keeping Auckland's streets and public spaces looking their best
- A clean full or restricted New Zealand Class 1 driver licence and the ability to drive manual vehicles is a MUST
- Willing to listen, learn and follow direction on site
- Keen to learn and grow a career in horticulture
What we offer
At Programmed, we value team participation and are proud to contribute to Auckland Council's vision of creating a world-class city.
We offer competitive rates of pay, along with ongoing training, development and opportunities to progress.
This role will give you the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills across our services, rather than being limited to one area - including horticulture and turf management.
You'll work
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with some overtime opportunities available at time and a half after 40 hours worked.
Our friendly and collaborative team is committed to making a positive contribution to Auckland's community, and we'd love for you to join us!
If you're keen to get outdoors, learn new skills and build a career in horticulture, we'd love to hear from you.
