Motion NZ is a well-established distributor of industrial and engineering products with a long-standing reputation across the New Zealand market, from the top of the North to the bottom of the South. As part of its next chapter, the business has invested in a brand new, purpose-built Distribution Centre which they will be moving to imminently. It’s an exciting time at Motion NZ with a lot of positive change happening and further growth right around the corner.

The Role

This is a rare opportunity to step into a brand-new Distribution Centre, as the business moves into it’s next phase of growth. With further expansion on the horizon, the Distribution Centre Manager will get the foundations right, build upon a high-performing culture, develop and grow the team, and implement best-practice systems and processes, all while partnering closely with branch, sales and leadership stakeholders to service distribution nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a high-performing, values-led culture across the growing team
  • Coach, develop and grow capability across warehouse, inventory, dispatch and administration
  • Implement fit-for-purpose systems, processes and operating rhythms to support continued scaling
  • Partner closely with Branch Teams, Sales, Product Managers and Health & Safety stakeholders
  • Own DC operating budgets, cost control and site facilities
  • Drive inventory accuracy, cycle counting and stock integrity
  • Benchmark performance against industry best practice, embedding continuous improvement
  • Champion safety leadership and full compliance with NZ H&S legislation

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven leadership experience in a fast-paced DC environment with a large number of SKUs
  • Track record of building team culture and developing individuals
  • Experience implementing systems, processes and best practice
  • Strong WMS and ERP systems capability
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety leadership
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement experience
  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations (desirable)
