This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the medical technology field, contribute to meaningful projects, and develop skills that directly impact patient care and customer experience.
Location: OSSIS Corporation, Christchurch, NZ
Tentative Program Dates: 30 November 2026 – 5 March 2027 (12 working weeks)
Remuneration: Paid internship
How You'll Create Impact
Join our OSSIS R&D team to support the design and prototyping of next generation surgical guides used in complex osteotomies. You’ll work alongside experience engineers across the development lifecycle, gaining hands-on exposure to medical device design.
Responsibilities Include
- Assist the development team in designing new surgical guides with guidance from senior engineers.
- Prototyping guide features via 3D printing and evaluation fit and function against defined acceptance criteria.
- Supporting usability testing of guides, and generating usability evaluation protocols.
- Contribute to design for manufacture activities, including liaising with vendors.
- Exposure to controlled and high precision manufacturing environments.
- Gathering design inputs and developing product specifications that can be implemented in a medical device manufacturing process.
- Document work to support Design History File (DHF) records.

You will be given a project of your own, with clear objectives and a manager to guide you through it.
