Manager – Line 2 Operational Risk & Compliance (Distribution Units)

We're looking for an experienced Manager Operational Risk & Compliance to join our Risk team and provide independent Line 2 monitoring, oversight and challenge across our Distribution Units.

Reporting to the Head of Risk Monitoring & Oversight, you'll play a key role in strengthening operational and compliance risk practices, supporting effective decision-making, and helping business leaders manage risk confidently within appetite. This is a highly influential role where you'll partner with stakeholders across the business, provide trusted risk advice, identify emerging risks and drive positive risk outcomes.

He aha tāu e mahi ai | What You'll Do

You'll provide independent oversight and challenge of risk and compliance management activities across allocated business areas, helping ensure effective management of non-financial risks and adherence with ASB's risk frameworks.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Monitoring risk profiles, issues, incidents, control effectiveness and emerging risks.
• Providing constructive challenge and independent risk perspectives on material risk decisions.
• Supporting consistent application of operational and compliance risk frameworks and practices.
• Delivering insights and thematic analysis that improve risk awareness and business outcomes.
• Contributing to divisional and enterprise risk reporting.
• Building strong relationships with stakeholders while promoting accountability and risk ownership.
• Identifying opportunities to strengthen control environments and improve risk maturity across the business.

We're interested in experienced risk professionals who combine strong technical capability with the confidence to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.

You'll Bring

• Experience within Operational Risk, Compliance, Enterprise Risk or a related non-financial risk function.
• A strong understanding of risk management frameworks, controls and governance practices.
• Experience gained within financial services or another highly regulated environment.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving capability.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
• The ability to communicate complex concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Sound judgement, professional scepticism and the confidence to ask the right questions.
• A continuous learning mindset and a passion for improving risk outcomes.
