Senior Data Business Analyst to play a key role in strengthening data governance, records management, and customer data quality across our Business & Corporate Banking division.

Te Tūranga | The role

This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of data, governance, privacy, and business transformation. Reporting to the Senior Product Manager - Data, you'll help drive ASB's strategic data uplift programme, ensuring our customer data is well-governed, compliant, and delivering value for both customers and colleagues.

You'll work with stakeholders across the business, risk, technology and data communities to translate complex data and records obligations into clear business requirements, governance processes, controls and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading business analysis activities for data governance, records management, and data destruction initiatives.
  • Defining business requirements, process maps, impact assessments, and governance artefacts.
  • Supporting the implementation and ongoing management of records registers, retention controls, and governance forums.
  • Partnering with data governance teams to improve critical data element management and data quality controls.
  • Translating complex data and records requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Identifying and managing risks associated with data, privacy, records, and regulatory obligations.
  • Building strong relationships across business, risk, technology, and data teams to ensure successful delivery of outcomes.

You'll bring proven business analysis expertise and a passion for improving how organisations manage and govern data.

To Be Successful, You'll Have

  • 7+ years' experience within financial services or another regulated industry.
  • At least 3 years' experience in data management, data governance, privacy, or records management.
  • Strong business analysis capability, including requirements gathering, process mapping, impact assessments and stakeholder engagement.
  • A solid understanding of records management, retention, privacy, and governance frameworks.
  • The ability to interpret data insights and translate technical concepts into meaningful business outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving ability, sound judgement, and a continuous improvement mindset.
