Vocational Rehabilitation Service Lead – Wellington
Habit Health
Remote
Are you an experienced Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist who knows vocational rehabilitation inside and out and wants the opportunity to shape how a service operates, grow referral pathways and influence better return-to-work outcomes?
We’re looking for a Vocational Rehabilitation Service Lead to join our Wellington team and take the lead in growing and developing our Voc service across the region.
You’ll be at the heart of the service working alongside clinicians, employers, ACC and other stakeholders to make sure clients receive the right support at the right time. You’ll have the opportunity to build relationships, influence service delivery, support clinicians and identify new opportunities for growth, while still staying connected to the clinical side of vocational rehabilitation.
Main Responsibilities
You’ll take ownership of the local VR service, with a mix of clinical leadership, service development and stakeholder engagement.
Your Focus Will Include
- Growing the Voc service across Wellington by strengthening referral pathways and building strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Leading and championing vocational rehabilitation, ensuring clients receive high-quality, practical and outcome-focused support
- Triage and coordination of referrals, making sure clients are matched with the right clinician and support from the outset
- Providing clinical leadership and mentorship to our multidisciplinary team, including employees and contractors
- Facilitating local multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, encouraging collaboration, shared learning and consistent best practice
- Working alongside the Regional Manager and Team Leads to support team capability, performance and wellbeing
- Identifying opportunities to improve the way we deliver Voc and turning good ideas into practical changes
- Keeping a strong focus on successful return-to-work outcomes for clients and employers
The Benefits Of Working With Us
This is a great opportunity if you’re ready to move beyond your own caseload and have a bigger influence on how vocational rehabilitation is delivered.
You’ll Get
- Competitive salary package plus monthly bonus scheme
- Additional professional development funding
- AI tools to help reduce admin and give you more time to focus on the work that matters
- The opportunity to shape and grow a regional Voc service
- Support from an experienced leadership team while still having plenty of autonomy
- Regular social events, weekly treats and award schemes
- Wellbeing initiatives including an annual eye exam, flu vaccination and access to the full scope of EAP services
The Ideal Candidate
This role could suit you if you’re an experienced VR clinician ready to step into leadership, or an established leader looking for a role where you can have real influence over service development. We're looking for someone who has:
- At least 2 years' clinical experience in vocational rehabilitation
- Strong knowledge of ACC processes, operational requirements, medical considerations and policy
- A genuine understanding of what makes vocational rehabilitation successful
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
- The confidence to lead, influence and bring people with you
- A proactive, can-do approach and an interest in improving how things are done
- Membership of the professional associations required under ACC contracts
Most importantly, you’ll be someone who cares about getting people back to work, back to life and moving forward — and who wants to play a bigger part in making that happen.
