Ventia is on the hunt for TWO Registered Distribution Line Mechanic's looking to take the lead on critical network infrastructure projects? Join our team in Waikato and play a key role in delivering safe, reliable electricity distribution services across the region. This role is responsible for leading crews in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground distribution assets while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest industry standards.

About The Role

As a Distribution Line Mechanic, you will lead and support crews carrying out de-energised network construction and maintenance activities, including:

Pole erection, structure replacement, cross-arm changes, and conductor jointing

Overhead line construction and maintenance from 240V to 33KV

Underground cable installation, maintenance, and civil coordination

Site risk assessments, tailgate meetings, and worksite safety leadership

Equipment, vehicle, and plant maintenance

Mentoring apprentices and developing team capability

Emergency response and participation in after-hours standby rosters when required

Delivering work in line with company, client, and industry standards

What You'll Bring

Minimum 5 years' experience as a Registered Distribution Line Mechanic

Demonstrated experience in de-energised line work and underground cabling

Sound knowledge of electricity distribution industry health and safety practices

Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical information

Physical fitness for climbing, lifting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions

NZ Driver's licence (heavy vehicle licence advantageous)

Cable jointing experience or training is highly desirable
