About The Role

We are looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to join our growing multidisciplinary team and help shape an innovative, integrated model of care for people experiencing distress, addiction, homelessness, trauma and social disadvantage. This is a meaningful opportunity to support whai ora who are not otherwise engaged with mental health services and to make a tangible difference to wellbeing, recovery and long-term stability.

Based within the Calder Health Centre team, you will focus on building strong therapeutic relationships with whānau and working collaboratively across services to respond to complex and interrelated needs. You will work autonomously while also being supported by a wider multidisciplinary team within Te Tāpui Atawhai’s integrated model of care.

What You Will Be Doing

• Assess, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate whānau health needs.
• Undertake comprehensive formal and informal mental health assessments in clinic and community settings.
• Identify clinical risk and provide timely, appropriate interventions.
• Provide specialist mental health advice and support alongside Te Tāpui Atawhai Auckland City Mission teams to help whānau achieve the best possible health outcomes.
• Contribute to effective discharge planning and referral pathways with healthcare providers and support agencies.
• Build strong working relationships with community mental health teams, including forensic and inpatient services.
• Contribute to improving systems, methods, efficiency and the quality of services provided.

What We Are Looking For

• Current NZ Nursing Council registration and a current Annual Practising Certificate (RN, RPN or RCpN) & at least 2 years’ mental health nursing experience.
• A demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to the Mission’s values of Manaakitanga, Atawhai, Rangapū and Mana Tika, Mana Ōrite.
• Demonstrated experience working with people experiencing mental health challenges, alcohol and other substance use, or high levels of social deprivation.
• A strong understanding of trauma-informed care and its application in practice.
• A full, clean NZ driver licence.
