Hairdressing Training Specialist

Are you an experienced hairdresser who enjoys sharing your knowledge and helping others develop their skills? Skills Group is looking for a Hairdressing Training Specialist to support work-based hairdressing learners across Dunedin and Southland.
This is a contract role, with hours varying depending on learner and programme requirements. We anticipate approximately 30-40 hours per month, primarily on Mondays. Training will be delivered through a combination of online and face-to-face sessions, with travel to Southland approximately once a month. The initial contract will be for 12 months, with the potential to extend based on ongoing requirements.
What You'll Be Doing
- Plan and deliver engaging hairdressing training through both online and face-to-face sessions.
- Support learners with their academic progress, individual learning needs and overall development.
- Prepare and adapt teaching materials to suit different learners and modes of delivery.
- Complete assessments, marking, feedback and reassessments within required timeframes.
- Track learner progress and attendance and maintain accurate programme administration.
- Provide coaching and support to learners and salon owners/trainers, while maintaining strong industry relationships.
What We're Looking For
- NZ Certificate in Hairdressing Level 4, or an equivalent New Zealand hairdressing qualification.
- Strong technical hairdressing knowledge and relevant industry experience.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills, with an engaging and supportive training style.
- Confidence using technology to support online learning and programme administration.
- Adult teaching qualifications and Unit Standard 4098, or willingness to obtain these with Skills Group's support.
- Ability to deliver face-to-face training in Dunedin and travel to Southland approximately once a month.
