HO People Service Experience - 12 Month Fixed Term Parental Cover

As we continue to evolve how we deliver People services across ASB, we're looking for an experienced and influential leader to join our team as Head of People Service Experience.

Te tūranga | The role

This is a senior leadership role responsible for leading our People Service Experience portfolio, bringing together Strategic Business Partnering and People Advisory. We are looking for 12 months cover for parental leave, starting before the end of 2026 ideally.

You'll lead a high-performing team of Senior Business Partners and People Advisors, ensuring work is effectively triaged, prioritised and managed while maintaining a strong focus on customer experience.

You'll lead a team of experienced People professionals who partner with leaders across ASB to deliver great people outcomes. Balancing strategic business partnering with operational excellence, you'll ensure our services are simple, effective and focused on creating exceptional experiences for leaders and employees alike. You'll champion continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to simplify processes, enhance service delivery and improve how work flows through the People team.

This role has a significant employee relations and risk component. You'll provide leadership and oversight across complex and sensitive people matters, supporting your team to navigate challenging situations with confidence, sound judgement and a commercially balanced approach. It will help if you are comfortable operating in ambiguity, balancing risk, employee outcomes and business priorities to support effective decision-making.

You'll be an experienced People leader with strong commercial acumen and a track record of influencing at senior levels.

You'll Bring

• A strong HR generalist background across a broad range of people disciplines.
• Significant experience in strategic HR or Business Partnering roles.
• Proven success coaching, challenging and influencing senior leaders.
• Leadership experience leading HR Business Partnering, Advisory or broader People teams.
• Strong employee relations, organisational design and organisational change capability.
• Experience managing complex people matters while balancing risk, legislation, employee outcomes and business needs.
• Experience building, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
• A strong customer experience mindset, with a passion for delivering exceptional service outcomes for leaders and employees.
• A track record of continuous improvement, including improving service delivery, simplifying processes and lifting team effectiveness.
• The ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery and execution.
• Sound judgement, adaptability and the confidence to navigate complex, fast-moving environments.
