Maintenance And Vineyard Hand

Huia has been making Marlborough wines with a unique and elegant character on a small scale since 1997. We’re seeking a motivated, multi-skilled and hardworking person to support us with maintenance tasks and keeping our Home Block looking sharp.

We’re seeking a hands-on person who thrives working in multiple operations. Experience in using and maintaining vineyard, horticultural or agricultural equipment is the main expertise we’re seeking for this varied role. The successful candidate will need to be multi-skilled and enjoy working in a varied role, that includes many aspects of looking after a small vineyard and winery.

You’ll be rewarded with the satisfaction of using existing skills and learning new skills working with our small team making some of the most exciting wines in Marlborough.

This is a permanent position. This may be a 40-hour a week job for much of the year. The flexibility to work more hours in seasonal peaks and sometimes less hours in winter would be useful.

• Work well in a team – this role will involve working with the entire Huia team, contractors, harvest/casual staff and a range of external stakeholders including customers.
• A willingness to learn and share your knowledge.
• Passionate about high quality wine and/or committed to achieving the best results at work.
• Experience and knowledge (or genuine interest) with biodynamic and organic grape growing and/or wine production.
• Attention to detail to be precise and efficient in work tasks and managing time.
• Be adaptable and able to think on your feet – our industry has many surprises and is in a process of change.
