The Doctors Te Whare Hapara is a general medical family practice. We’ve proudly provided primary healthcare to the people of Te Whare Hapara, Karaka, Papakura, and outlying communities since 1985. The practice was established by Dr Judy Goulden, who was the NZ Ferns netball doctor for several years. We are a team of 6 GPs, 6 nurses, 6 reception team members, a Health Improvement Practitioner and a Health Coach. Our current nursing team have diverse skillset offering a wide range of services to our patients. We offer sociable day-time hours with no after hours/weekend work, competitive pay & regular social events.

About the Position and You

We are seeking a registered nurse to lead the nursing team at The Doctors Te Whare Hapara, focusing on clinical excellence and innovative approaches in primary care. If you are ready to step up into a leadership role, or already an experienced nurse manager this is the role for you. Mentoring and support will be available for the right candidate.

This is a permanent position working 32-40 hours per week across 4-5 days from Monday-Friday.

  • Lead a diverse nursing team (Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, Practice Care Assistants) for safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care.
  • Manage recruitment, daily operations, collaborate with centre leadership, and develop care models for improved health outcomes and medical centre efficiency.
  • Balance administrative duties with clinical responsibilities within the role.

Key attributes include

  • A current New Zealand practicing certificate and current CPR certificate
  • General practice nursing experience (desirable)
  • General practice nursing management experience (desirable)
  • Leadership and management aspirations
  • Full Vaccinator Status (current)
  • Fully Trained (current) Smear Taker
  • Your practice aligns with the principles of The Treaty of Waitangi.
  • Clinical experience and passion for, primary care and primary care nursing
  • Proven quality improvement experience
  • Postgraduate qualification is highly desirable
  • Great communication skills at all levels
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Medtech Evolution experience
