About The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated
Financial Accountant to join our high performing Financial Control & Reporting team. You will play a key role in delivering timely, accurate, and high‑quality financial and regulatory reporting.
You will support the integrity of our financial information, ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement across financial reporting processes.
Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, you will
- Assist with the preparation of high quality interim and annual financial statements and the Annual Report in accordance with the
- agreed timetable.
- Liaise with external auditors to ensure their information requirements are met in a timely manner.
- Deliver timely and accurate regulatory reports and returns, including RBNZ reports, Statistics NZ surveys, and other regulatory returns.
- Review financial statements and compliance reporting to provide variance analysis and commentary.
- Prepare month end reporting, reconciliations and tax compliance processes.
About you
You are a motivated junior or intermediate Financial Accountant, with around 3-5 years accounting experience ideally in insurance, financial services or professional services. You will bring a financial reporting background, with experience preparing or supporting financial statements, regulatory reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
Most importantly, you will be a good team player who builds strong working relationships and engages confidently with internal teams and external stakeholders. You will bring curiosity, initiative, and a genuine willingness to learn, along with strong attention to detail and an interest in continuous improvement and finding better ways of working.
Ideally, you will have:
- Recently qualified or nearly qualified CA or equivalent
- Experience in the insurance industry or broader financial services sector desirable
- A quick learner with strong attention to detail, and an ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and challenge existing processes when there is a better way.
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with General Ledger applications.
- Excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritise deliverables and own outcomes.
