The Role

As the Director of Sales of Park Hyatt Auckland, you will help maximize total hotel revenue potential for the hotel across contracted accounts with a focus on the group, event and corporate markets.

Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Demonstrate a proactive approach to sales and be a dynamic sales professional who will positively impact our business and clearly understand the Park Hyatt brand
  • Develop and execute the hotel's comprehensive sales strategy to achieve and exceed revenue targets.
  • Maximize segmentation mix and develop business from existing Hyatt channels while creating new business development opportunities
  • Manage strong relationships with senior decision-makers from Key Leisure, PCO's, Corporate Accounts, Travel Agents and ENT clients
  • Identify and proactively secure new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with key clients, travel partners, and industry stakeholders. This is a large part of the role.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships across internal and external clients, and other market and industry sources
  • Plan, organize, and host familiarization, client events, team roadshows, and entertainment
  • Working closely with the Director of Sales & Marketing and Revenue Manager to develop and implement strategies to maximize business opportunities
  • Lead, inspire, and mentor a high-performing sales team, supporting them reach their respective revenue targets
  • Supervise the Sales & MICE teams in the performance of their duties and ensure learning opportunities through genuine, naturally occurring, quality conversation
  • Assist with annual sales budgets, forecasts, and business plans.
  • Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, networking functions, and client engagements.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and performance metrics to identify growth opportunities.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • University degree or diploma qualification in Sales or Marketing and/or Hospitality or Tourism Management
  • Minimum 2 years work experience as Associate Director of Sales
  • Proven track record of delivering significant revenue growth and exceeding commercial targets.
  • Previous experience in a 5 star hotel environment. Strong knowledge of luxury market segments, distribution channels, and global travel networks.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and influencing skills and strong follow-up and time management skills
  • Good understanding of selling techniques and marketing approaches.
  • Well-developed computer skills particularly in the use of MS Office, Lanyon/Envision/Agency360/RESERVE
  • Strong customer service skills and results-orientated
  • Ability to lead and mentor a strong and disciplined sales team
  • A self-starter who is highly driven and solutions-orientated
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, relationship management and networking abilities
