Finance Manager
Archway Recruitment
Remote
Archway Recruitment is partnering with an established Wellington-based engineering and manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Finance Manager. As part of a wider group, the business is entering an important stage of development and is looking for a capable finance leader who can provide stability, strengthen commercial decision-making and modernise the way finance operates.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on financial leadership with strategic advice, people development and practical process improvement!
The role
Reporting to the Chief Executive and forming part of the leadership team, this is the senior finance position within the business. You will also work closely with the wider group finance function across reporting, accounting policy, controls, systems and improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
The role provides ownership of financial management and reporting while acting as a trusted commercial adviser to the Chief Executive, leadership team and operational managers. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the delivery of accurate and timely management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Oversee monthly accounts, balance sheet reviews, reconciliations, payroll and project financial reporting
- Coordinate annual financial statements, statutory reporting and audit requirements
- Maintain effective financial controls, policies and delegated authorities
- Provide commercial advice to leadership and operational managers
- Support tendering, quotations and pricing decisions through product costing, project costing and margin analysis
- Prepare capital expenditure business cases, investment appraisals and post-investment reviews
- Lead the ongoing improvement of the recently implemented ERP environment, reporting capability and data quality
- Lead, mentor and develop a team covering finance, administration and operational support functions
This is not simply a month-end and compliance role. The successful candidate will be encouraged to bring fresh thinking, challenge constructively and make practical improvements that create a finance function trusted by the wider business.
Role Requirements
This role will suit an experienced and commercially minded finance leader who is comfortable operating across both strategic and hands-on responsibilities.
You Will Ideally Bring
- CA, CPA or an equivalent professional qualification
- Strong capability across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and compliance
- Ideally, experience within a manufacturing or inventory-intensive environment
- Sound knowledge of standard costing, work in progress, inventory valuation, job costing and variance analysis
- Experience improving finance processes, systems, reporting and controls
- The ability to translate financial information into practical commercial advice
- Proven people leadership, coaching and capability development skills
What’s In It For You
This is a genuinely broad Finance Manager opportunity that provides considerably more scope than a traditional financial control role.
Benefits Include
- Performance bonus of up to 20% of salary
- Free on-site car parking
- Membership of the senior leadership team, direct exposure to CE and reporting in to the board.
- The opportunity to shape and modernise an established finance function
