Field Operator Pest Animals - Masterton

We're looking for a Field Operator to join our passionate Pest Animals team. This permanent, full-time role is based in our Masterton office .

About the role

As a Field Operator you will carry out a wide range of pest animal control operations including aerial operations and ground control using traps, firearms and toxins in back country, rural and urban environments.

Most of your time will be in the field on foot, riding motorbikes, quads and driving utes to service traps and bait stations. A willingness to work in all weather and the ability to ride two wheeled motorbikes on rough and varied terrain is required. You'll get access to interesting and remote areas of the Greater Wellington rural landscape.

You need to be a real team player, potentially working overtime and occasionally staying away overnight as part of a work crew.

Skills and experience required

• Flexible and a genuine team player, willing to help others.
• Able to ride two-wheel motorbikes off road
• Physically fit and able to navigate through bush, farmland environments and uneven terrain with a full pack, in all weather conditions.
• Lots of initiative, great communication skills and a 'can-do' attitude.
• Restricted or full drivers' license (including manual transmission).
• Good reading and writing skills and some ability with the use of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge in pest animal control (possum or mustelid) would be useful (but not essential)
• Be able to obtain a Controlled Substance License and firearms license, including Police checks.
• Ability to undertake industry training to obtain qualifications.
• Skills in navigation and map reading, including GPS, GIS and relevant tools
• Overnight, night shooting and /or weekend work may be required occasionally
• Pre-employment medical testing.

The remuneration for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $63,402 to $95,103 with a midpoint of $79,253. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant and is most likely around midpoint.
