Join Downer's Energy & Utilities team as Construction Manager and play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of water and utility projects across the region. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, foster strong client relationships, and help develop the capability of talented teams while delivering infrastructure that makes a real difference to the people who rely on it every day.

Based in Dunedin, this role offers the opportunity to combine strategic leadership, project delivery and people development, all while enjoying a way of life that comes with living in one of New Zealand's most spectacular regions.

Te kōwhiringa | The opportunity

As Construction Manager, you'll be responsible for the successful delivery of maintenance, construction and early contractor involvement projects across Otago.

Working collaboratively with operational teams, clients and stakeholders, you'll help deliver safe, sustainable and commercially successful outcomes while supporting the continued growth of our Water business throughout the South.

We're looking for a cooperative and people-focused leader who enjoys bringing teams together to achieve great outcomes.

Ideally you'll bring

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Significant experience delivering civil, water, utilities or infrastructure projects
  • Strong commercial and contract management capability
  • Experience managing multiple projects, subcontractors and delivery teams
  • The ability to build positive relationships with clients, stakeholders and operational teams
  • Proven people leadership experience with a passion for coaching and developing others
  • Strong planning, resource management and financial reporting skills
  • A commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement
  • Experience within the water, wastewater or utilities sector will be highly regarded.
